Ask for opinion of Digital Camera

I am considering for getting a digital camera. There are so many brands in the market and they all looks pretty similar. I try checked out some survey on web but it just didn’t help me to make decision. It sounds good to have something like Canon Powershot S50. But my budget may be just be enough to get a 3.2 mega-pixels camera (may be 4.0 Mpixels).

I knew this blog haven’t brought enough eye-balls for polling :). Just wonder I might could get some hints and personal experience from you. If you drop by here for any reason, and you got a digital camera, would you share some information like what kind of digital camera you have, and what’s the best thing you think of it?

Thanks!

my suggestion is to pick a price range first. Then find out what cameras are in that range, then check the reviews. There will be good and bad for each, you'll need to decide what is more important for you.
Then check ebay and see what kind of deals you can get. My price range was very very small the last time I bought a camera because it was on short notice (I lost mine on a trip). I ended up getting a factory refurbished Kodak for half the best price I found elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice, sirshannon. You're right, I should start to pick a price range first since my budget is a bit tight :).

my kodak cost $152 US total, shipping and everything. It was factory refurbished. The cheapest I found it online new was $270. I looked around daily for about a month before I made the decision.

I like the Canon PowerShot (also marketed as the "Ixy"). I think mine's an S200? Anyway, I've had it about two years now, maybe a little more - flawless. 2.1 megapixels, reasonably long battery life, nice and portable, built like a little brick.

You could do a lot worse than this.

Thanks, AG. Glad to hear good words about 2.1 megapixels camera. I'm a bit worry on the low megapixels. Would try out more models on some local digital camera roadshows.
